Path of the Mother
Akin to the Hermetic
Path of Elemental Mastery, this form connects the Thaumaturgist to nature,
allowing communication and control over living plants. It does not allow
control over organic materials that are not alive.
Basic The
Voice of the Mother
This power allows the Thaumaturgist to speak with plants. Although these
beings have little concern for anything but their own survival, the use
of this power allows the Thaumaturgist to interpret impressions from these
beings. System: The Thaumaturgist makes a Static Social Challenge vs.
7 traits to see if she can interpret the impressions that she is being
given. The Thaumaturgist must spend one mental trait per plant for every
ten minutes that she is in contact with the plant.
Basic
Influence of the Mother
This power gives the Thaumaturgist limited control over plants. She can
cause vines to snake out and grab opponents (each vine having 3 physical
traits and 1 health level). The life forms that are being controlled must
be in the near vicinity of the Thaumaturgist. System: It costs one Social
Trait to control the plants, but a Narrator may issue a higher cost for
larger plants. The being to be controlled must be within, 50 feet and
be within line of sight.
Intermediate
Speed of Seasons
This power allows a Thaumaturgist to accelerate a plant's growth, causing
roses to bloom in a matter of minutes or trees to shoot up from saplings
over night. Alternately, she can speed the death and decay of a plan,
withering grass and crumbling wooden stakes with but a touch System: The
character touches the target plant. She must win a mental challenge a
difficulty of 6 then she can control the acceleration of the plant. If
this power is used in combat to render a wooden weapon useless, she must
establish a firm grip on the object (stake) in question, this will very
likely require a successful physical challenge.
Intermediate
One with Nature
This power is very similar to the Protean power of Earth Meld. Those who
possess with Earth Meld may meld with the earth. However, the thamaturgist
who utilizes this power meld with trees (large enough to hold her). This
form must be solid, and it cannot have spaces (like bushes). System: This
power requires the expenditure of two Blood Trait, and a full round that
the Thaumaturgist must concentrate and take no other action . The downside
of this power is that any damage that the form takes while the Thaumaturgist
is within it is also taken by the Thaumaturgist. More than one user of
this power has been known to perish in a Forest Fire.
Advanced Stream
of Life
This power allows the Thaumaturgist to draw upon the life force of a plant
to replenish her own life force and heal herself. It may also be used
to help the Thaumaturgist replenish her Blood Pool. System: If the Thaumaturgist
touches the form and makes a Mental Challenge a difficulty of 6. If successful
she may heal one level of health, and more by expending mental traits
on a one for one basis. This causes one level of damage for every one that
the Thaumaturgist heals, and the form will become sickly and die within
a matter of minutes. If the Thaumaturgist wishes to use the life force
of the form, to replenish her blood pool, she must make a Mental Challenge
a difficulty of 6. She will gain one blood point per success, at the cost
of one health level of damage to the form that she is draining. This is
almost always fatally traumatic to the form, and even if they still possess
some of their life force, they almost always wither away and die. To the
nature loving users of this path, this is a power of last resort. As such
the player must report to a narrator for a beast trait challenge when
this power is used successfully. Note: Large plants (trees) should have
a health level between 3-7. Medium plants such as bushes should have a
health level between 1-3. Small plants such as a potted plant should have
one health level.
