![]() Announcements - Rules - Clarifications - Character Creation - Backgrounds - Combat - Disciplines SETHIANS The Sethian Clan is, depending on whom one asks, either a true Clan or a Bloodline. They claim to be the "true" heirs to the Antediluvian's Blood, reflecting an aspect of the "Dark God" before his corruption. According to the Sethians, Set was originally a god of strength and the hunt and it is their duty to vindicate the line and return Set to his "original aspect" before Gehenna occurs; short of that, they have, one and all, sworn to protect those that they have found "worthy" of survival once the Old Ones rise and attempt the Final Destruction of Kindred kind. Rare in the extreme, Sethians attempt to spread themselves out among the various groups of Kindred, searching for means to effect either of their goals; they are ever vigilant; searching for those that may be the key to the survival of, in their view, the best Kindred, Human and other beings so that they may protect them. Often, these subjects opting to guard his or her charge covertly. Another aspect of the Sethians tradition is their tendency of the having very ambivalent feelings toward their Setite and Serpent of the Light cousins. Many Sethians even take up careers as hunter/slayers of the other two branches of the family tree, seeing them as extensions of Set's fallen stature. This does not endear them to either Clan, which makes them even confusing since there is also some unspoken bond that appears to lie between them and the Sethians; from time to time a Sethian has been forced to abandon his prey because of reasons that the hunter is honor-bound not to divulge, nor are they particularly nonviolent about it if they are pressed. Additionally, there seems to be an even more unusual tie between the Sethians and certain factions of the Tremere clan; a Sethian entering a Camarilla Domain will usually seek them out first. On many occasions, it is the Tremere of a Domain that will vouch for the Huntsman, assuring the city's elders that they are not, in fact, Setites and that they mean the Domain no harm. Of course, this brings up as many suspicions as it does reassurances, but the Tremere are a tightlipped about their knowledge as anyone else. Nickname: Huntsmen Disciplines: Fortitude, Presence and Potence or Sethos Appearance: Sethians generally dress in a manner that is both practical (for combat) and will allow them to be taken seriously by those that they wish to protect. Anything from a well-tailored suit (with hidden shoulder-holster) fro acting as a capo for a Venture Mafioso to heavy flak jacket and fatigues for traipsing about with a pack of Gangrel survivalists have been seen. All Sethians have the special symbol of their clan tattooed somewhere on their person. Character Creation: Most Sethians come from a Warrior-oriented backgrounds, although rumors abound that the first of there line were members of the Followers of Set (Particularly those following the Path of the Warrior) and the Serpents of the Light who underwent a dramatic epiphany, so some of the older members of the Bloodline may have significantly different concepts. Passionate Natures are predominate (such as Cavalier, Visionary, Bravo, Celebrant of Architect). Although just about any type of Demeanor is fair game. Clan Advantage: Sethians are warriors and hunters first and foremost: Sethian characters start with a free trait in Brawl and either Melee or Survival. The Sethian philosophy deeply involves their relationship to both the past and the future, so they may additionally gain one of the following Abilities for free as well: Mythology (Egyptology) Setite (or Serpent of the Light) Lore, or Noddist Lore. Clan Disadvantage: Sethians as an entire Bloodline seem to owe a debt to the Tremere Clan for some mysterious "favor" or "service" done at some point in the past. As a result, each Sethian Automatically owes the first Tremere that they encounter in a Domain one minor Boon, to be repaid at the holder's discretion. This Boon is Transferable to any other resident Tremere within the Domain, but once paid, the Sethian is absolved of such debts for all Tremere residing within the Domain at the time the Boon is Acknowledged by the holder. It should be noted that not all Tremere are aware of this arrangement, so very often the Boon is instead held by the first Warlock within a Domain to make a point of acknowledging it. There are rumors that a similar Boon in held by certain factions within the Followers of Set and its Antitribu counterpart (thus explaining the occasional escape from a Huntsman's wrath), but no one has been able to verify this claim. Further, it would seem that, even for the Sethian Bloodline, the Apple doesn't far very fall from the tree; Sethians are one-Trait down in all Social Challenges involving the Corruptive influences or Either a Follower of a Serpent. If a Sethian Falls from grace they tend to fall all the way, and revert to the mentality and ways of their insidious forbears. Clan Specific Merits: The following two merits are available only to Sethians due to the unique nature of the blood. Sense Descendant:
