OUT OF GAME: The Legion is the brainchild of Clement Prassa, Chris Oates and Bob Mathis-Friedman(yes, this IS a statement of the creators for those of you out there who care about credit). They three intrepid players were watching the movie LEGEND one night and noticed something...the character Jack had all of these cool weapoms and armour, but kept throwing them away and beating up the bad guys mostly by crouching a lot. "Saaayy," thought we, "OUR characters tend to crouch a lot, too!" Thus was born the Legion. What began as an in-joke between three players soon began to escalate to a coterie of extrodinary magnitude.

IN GAME: The Brujah known as Thorn and Jack, and the Gangrel known as Angus formed a small fellowship among each other. Feeling out of place among the stuffy, overly prim intrigues and ridiculously lavish courts of the Camarilla in their current Domain of residence, the trio began to turn this fellowship into an underground coterie. It's purpose was to remind Kindred and others that there were certain elements to being Creatures of the Night that did not involve standing around being wrapped up in one's own ennui.

The Legion stands for the unalienable right to ENJOY one's nature, rather than use it as an excuse to wallow in cheap soap-operatics and emotion-sapping paranoia. The Legion are prowlers, scouring the rooftops are loping through the forrests, reveling in the thrill of the chase; They are warriors, marshalling their forces for the benefit of others or for their own personal gratification; they are the fools, making a mockery of an establishment that takes themselves too seriously, but in a way that is both bestial and not threatening enough to afford overt retaliation; and lastly, they are the hedonists, enjoying life and/or Unlife to it's fullest...pulling anyone with them into the party as they go.

The Kindred who has won the favor of the Legion is hard-pressed to find a cotorie that isn't more willing to bend over backwards on their behalf, The Legion is known for it's passion, which extends to all that they care about and all that they loathe. Annoy or threaten one Legionaire and you do so to all. Befriend one and you are likewise befriended by the entire group.

PLACE WITHIN THE CAMARILLA

The Legion was originally founded by Brujah and Gangrel Kindred, which is fairly obvious given their names and practices. Naturally, the bulk of the membership consists of these two Clans. The Legion is far more than this, however. The coterie welcomes all Kindred, as long as their desires reflect the attitudes of the Legion.

Since it's founding, the LGGVCA has incorporated into its number Kindred from the Bloodlines of Ventrue, Toreador, Malkavian,Nosferatu, Tremere, and Giovanni. Each has has his or her own reasons for joining; usually it involved a need to establish friendships that did not involve the staid, intrigue-laden atmosphere of their fellows. Often it involved members of a given Clan who simply did not feel that their Clanmates truly understood them (as in the case of a Toreador Hip-Hop artist and a Tremere who was originally a Gen-X type Grad Student); for them, the Legion offered a psychological oasis where they could "let their hair down."

The Legion appears (so far) to be capable of moving relatively freely (if a bit loudly) through Camarilla society. The Elder Kindred seem to try to ignore it, thinking it a fad of some kind...just Childer trying to adapt..., while those of a more power-hungry type seem to percieve the group as a useful way to manipulate a mass of Kindred whose only interest seems to be acting like a bunch of growling frat-rats.

This serves the Legion's purposes quite well. The LGGVCA is well-aware of the situations and bids for power in the Jyhad. They often act blind to the things going on around them, but in fact, they are both an effective warrior caste and spy network. The LGGVCA does not take sides, unless they feel that something needs to get done that the other Kindred are missing because of their ususal hubris. When this occurs (which is quite often), the Legion acts swiftly and decisively. Most of the time, the Legion chapter of a given Domain will select someone in particular (sometimes a member, but usually someone they appear to be working for) to take credit for masterminding the action, even if it would otherwise mean greater prestige for the group. The priciple goal of the Legion is surviving long enough to see the pleasure at the other end of a job, and this is less likely if the other Kindred gives them too much credit for group intelligence.

PLACE AMONG THE OTHERS

The Legion is apolitical. It understands the value of different types of views on being Undead, and does not see the difference between sects as they ALL seem to misunderstand the point of the Gift that has been given to them: to walk (or stalk, or even dance) the line between Man Creature...to find joy where one can, and to make the best of a potentially scary state of being.

The Legion welcomes Camarilla and Anarch alike into its group; as long as one leaves one's politics at the door. The Growling Ones serve whomever suits their needs, and the bonds (NOT Blood Bonds, mind you-but bonds born of passion and loyalty) transcend such superficial things as who owns what piece of geography, or who comes closest to being Human. Whether or not any members mey be of the Sabbat is unkonwn; the Legion has an official Don't Ask/Don't Tell policy regarding a being's Sect (mostly for the sake of the anarchs), and therefore if a Sabbat member should try to infiltrate into the group, he would be able to do so. If he or she did, however, the Antitribu would be expected to comport his/herself like any other LGGVCA, and abide by the rules. A Sabbat member who began mucking things up for the Legion would be punished severely (we all know what THAT means), but that would not (by LGGVCA law) mean that a general witch-hunt against Sabbat infiltrarors would occur...that wouldn't be very apolitical. Instead, as far as the Legion is concerned, the transgressor would be treated as an individual.

The Legion is not restricted to Kindred. Anyone who can be considered to be of Legion-like character is welcome. The main chapter currently counts a Ghoul and the Alpha of a Garou Pack among them. The Legion feels that all are equal under the moon, as long as they are willing to howl at it.

Thorn, one of the founding members of the Legion, has issued a general order throuhgout the coterie's chapters to look for Mage, Wraith, and Changeling candidates. The legion's strength lies within its ability to network.

The Legion also boasts several past and present Primogen, as well as a Gangrel Prince. Known areas that have Legion Chapters Include:
