HISTORY: During the Sabbat siege of Boston in the early 1970s, the last standing Camarilla stronghold proved to be a tough nut to crack. The Tremere Chantry had survived assault after assault and was hardly weakened. Desperate, the packs in the area turned to mass embracing shock troops to distract the waiting Tremere while their own best warriors could get into the chantry itself and destroy it. Among the dozens of those about to unwillingly become vampires was a man who had escaped mortal justice for years, shifting the blame for his heinous crimes on to his own brother. Timothy DeSalvo held the city's mortal population in terror for years, stalking the night and murdering young women as the Boston Strangler.

Johnny Demonic knew the truth, and actually considered embracing DeSalvo outright before the conflict started, but didn't want a young Childe to be destroyed before he could be properly instructed in the ways of the Sabbat. When things got desperate, however, he sought out the killer and brought him to the graveyard that fateful night.

DeSalvo survived his embrace and the first thing he did when he crawled out of the grave, sick with a hunger frenzy, was diablerize the closest thing he saw, an unsuspecting Brujah who was resting after digging a half dozen graves. The pack subdued the neonate, strung him up in a tree, battered his body with the shovels used to dig his grave, then unceremoniously dumped him back into the hole. When Timothy clawed his way out a second time, he was less anxious to kill his new packmates.

Anyway, Timothy survived the seige, developing a taste for the amaranth in the process. He was responsible for at least one Tremere meeting Final Death that night, and some witnesses say as many as three, a rumor which Timothy neither confirms nor denies.

After Boston was safely in Sabbat hands (nobody even saw the Giovanni coming), he and his newfound companions travelled up and down the East Coast, led by Johnny Demonic, the Gangrel pack leader for a while, terrorizing small towns from Maine to Virginia.

The wanderlust soon took hold of the Gangrel, however, and one night, while the pack was holed up in the house of a rapidly decomposing New Jersey stockbroker, Johnny told the group "We're goin' to California." When they arrived in Monterey, the city's vampiric government was falling apart, and Timothy siezed the opportunity to both take control of the pack from his Sire and the city itself. The process was took nearly a year, during which time Timothy had made himself Archbishop, and appointed his Sire, Johnny Demonic, Bishop.

Just as his triumph was complete, he was taken hostage by a group of the mysterious Kuei Jin, who sought to study him for insight into Homo Sapiens Sanguinus anatomy and psychology. He was brought to Asia, where, after fighting to free himself from the control of the Eastern Kindred, he established a Sabbat enclave in Seoul, Korea.

Always wanting more power and influence, he branced out of Seoul and soon established a Sabbat presence in several major Asian cities. He called himself Cardinal, and nobody challenged him in his claim.

Timothy longed to return to his homeland, however, as the Tzimisce always do, and in the spring of 1998, his plans were ready. He conquered Seattle within days of his arrival, and has gradually been spreading Sabbat influence throughout the Western United States. He has learned both from successful sieges, like the one in Monterey, and his failures, like the first assault on Tokyo, how to win the war in the night, and his own Jyhad shows no signs of slowing.

He currently claims the title "Cardinal of the Western American Teritories", and intends to hold the position until the job is complete and the Camarilla is wiped out of North America. To this end, he has employed the services of his Childe, Michael Bond, and his one time rival Johnny Problem. Surprisingly, Timothy is not, on the surface, the monster he is rumored to be. He is very polite, always honest, and dangerously charming. He will not hesitate, however, to suck the soul out of anyone he percieves as an enemy to his cause, and has developed a fondness for the blood of the Tremere. If asked, he will reply that he is simply reclaiming what they stole from his Clan centuries ago.

Always a quick study, he continues to learn all he can about the vampiric condition and the nature of death itself. His position as Cardinal, however, affords him little time to devote to his studies, and those very close to him think he may abdicate his post as soon as the conquest is complete, probably leaving it to Bond.
